For more detailed information, please check your posting package or this wonderfully written guide from CFMWS (Guide to Relocating)
1. What BGRS Does
BGRS manages your moving benefits and reimbursements. Through the BGRS website or app, you can:
- See what expenses are covered
- Track your relocation budget
- Upload receipts and submit claims
- Choose approved service providers (realtors, lawyers, inspectors)
Important: BGRS doesn’t just reimburse you later. Many decisions (when you buy, sell, or rent) must follow specific rules and timelines. If you miss them, you may pay out of pocket. I am

- Deals must be arm’s‑length (no family purchases)
What to know if renting:
- Start your HHTs early, and no later than two months before your official posting date
- Determine key requirements ahead of time (bedrooms, bathrooms, parking)
What BGRS may cover:
- Most buying costs (legal fees, inspections) are usually covered (if buying)
- Rental search assistance (for my fees so you are not paying)
- Temporary lodging before your lease starts
- Some move‑related rental costs (within limits)

- Keeps your offer BGRS‑compliant
If you can’t travel, schedule virtual showings and remote paperwork with me to make this work!
4. Selling Your Current Home
Selling during a posting year is not a normal sale, especially in fast moving Ottawa Market.
What to know:
- Your home must be your principal residence
- Real estate commissions and legal fees are usually covered by BGRS
- Delays can reduce or eliminate reimbursements
How I can help:
- Prices your home to sell within posting timelines
- Avoids overpricing that can cost you money later
- Aligns the closing date with your move
- Arrange for closing inspections on your behalf so you don’t have to worry about administrative process
- Ensures paperwork is ready for BGRS claims
During your posting‑out period, I will support you every step of the way—reducing stress and helping you make decisions that protect the value of your home.
5. Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Waiting too long to register with BGRS
- Buying, selling, or signing a lease before confirming rules
- Missing deadlines for claims or closings
- Using professionals unfamiliar with CAF relocations
- Poor record‑keeping (lost receipts, missing documents)
When unsure, pause and confirm with BGRS before moving forward. A CAF‑experienced realtor can save you money, time, and stress—so you can focus on your next posting.
